You can streamline the takeoff process by taking off assemblies. For example, instead of taking off each item that makes up a standard-sized wall, you can take off an assembly containing all the items needed to construct the wall.
Assembly takeoff involves:

Opening the Assembly Takeoff window.

On the ribbon, from the Takeoff group, on the Takeoff tab, click Assembly Takeoff.

In classic view, click Takeoff > Assembly Takeoff, or click
on the toolbar.

Double-clicking (or dragging and dropping) the assembly you want to take off.

Entering or calculating item takeoff quantities for the assembly.

Generating the items to the spreadsheet.
