Before you start

(optional) Set a location, alternate, and work breakdown structure (WBS) for the assemblies you are going to take off using the Default Takeoff Values pane, opened in one of the following ways:

To perform assembly takeoff:

  1. Click to open the Assembly Takeoff window.

  2. Select an assembly and take it off. How?

    If you use formulas in your assemblies, Sage Estimating displays the variables (dimensions and specs) for the assembly in the variable pane.

  3. (optional) Change the assembly description in the variable pane. How?

  4. Enter or calculate a takeoff quantity for the item. How?

    To calculate quantities, you can:

    • Use formulas. How?
    • Use the calculator. How?
    • Use ePlan Takeoff How?

    To customize a variable for use in this assembly only, set up an assembly-specific variable. How?

  5. (optional) Enter another pass. How?

  6. Review the items in the takeoff grid. If necessary, you can:
    • Change an item description. How?
    • Change item details. How?
    • Add an item to the assembly. How?
    • Delete an item from the grid. How?
    • Substitute an item in the grid. How?
    • Adjust assembly productivity. How?
  7. When you are ready to generate the assembly to the spreadsheet, click [OK] in the Assembly Takeoff window.
