Adjusting the estimate prices by a percentage

Repricing the estimate using cost indexes

Changing an existing cost index

To change an existing cost index:

  1. Choose one of the following options to open the Cost Index window:
    • From the Database tab, select the Miscellaneous group and click Cost Indexes (or, in classic view, select Database menu > Cost Indexes).
    • From the spreadsheet, right-click and select Edit Cost Index from the shortcut menu.
  2. Select the cost index you want to change.
  3. The source option indicates where the cost index showing in the window is stored. If you opened the window from the spreadsheet, you can choose to change an index in either the estimate or the standard database.
  4. Note: Note that changes made to an estimate cost index do not affect the cost index stored in the standard database.

  5. You can click image\list.gif to choose from a list of existing cost indexes in either the estimate or standard database, or you can scroll through the cost indexes using [<<] and [>>].
  6. Make changes as needed.
  7. To rename the cost index, click [Rename] and enter the new name in the Cost Index field.
  8. To change the phase range or adjustment factor, click the appropriate cell and enter the new number.
  9. To delete a row from the table, right-click the row header and choose Delete.
  10. Complete the fields at the top of the window.
  11. When you finish changing the cost index, click [OK] to save it.
  12. Change other cost indexes in the same manner. When you finish, click [Close].

Tip: If you modify a cost index that was not created in Sage Estimating, Sage Estimating saves your changes to another cost index with the same name and marks that index as modified. The original index remains unchanged.
