Defining standard abbreviations for units of measure
You should define a list of standard abbreviations for units
of measure to ensure consistency within your own estimates and estimates
prepared by other estimators in your company. Units of measure can be
up to four characters long.
Tips:
- Use lower-case letters because
they are easier to type than upper-case letters.
- Longer abbreviations are
usually easier to read and understand than shorter ones; for example,
cuyd versus cy.
