Performing item takeoff

Before you start

(optional) Use the Default Takeoff Values pane to set a location, alternate item, and work breakdown structure (WBS) for the items you are going to take off.

To perform item takeoff:

  1. Open the Item Takeoff window:

    • On the ribbon, from the Takeoff group on the Takeoff tab, click Item.
    • In classic view, click on the toolbar.
  2. Select an item and take it off. How?

    If you have formulas assigned to your takeoff items, Sage Estimating displays the variables (dimensions and specs) for them in the variable pane.

  3. Enter or calculate the item takeoff quantities. How?

    To calculate quantities you can:

    • Use formulas. How?
    • Use the calculator. How?
    • Use ePlan Takeoff. How?

    To make adjustments to items in the takeoff grid, you can:

    • Change an item description. How?
    • Change item details. How?
    • Delete an item from the grid. How?
    • Save the items as an assembly. How?
    • Generate items to the spreadsheet by clicking [OK].

After performing takeoff

To see the items in takeoff order on the spreadsheet while you work, click the Takeoff Order tab.
