Producing estimates > Performing takeoff > Taking off items > Performing one-time item takeoff
You can take off one-time items from the spreadsheet, as well as during Quick takeoff, Item takeoff, or Assembly takeoff.
To take off one-time items:

Open the One-time Item window:
- On the ribbon, from the group on the tab, click One-Time Item.
- In classic view, select Takeoff menu > Takeoff Tools > One-Time Item (or click
on the toolbar).

Complete the fields in the window. At a minimum, you need to complete the Phase, Description, and Takeoff unit fields to set up a one-time item:

(optional) Click [Go to Detail] to enter more information about the item.

When you finish setting up the one-time item, click [OK] in the One-time Item window.
The one-time item appears on the spreadsheet, or in the takeoff grid if you are taking off a one-time item from the Item Takeoff window. Hyphens (----) in the Item column identify a one-time item in the estimate.
Tips:
- Use the Takeoff options on the Preferences tab of the Estimating Management Console to preselect the default categories for one-time items.
- You can copy and paste one-time items to duplicate them.
