Create Export File window

Use this window to specify details for exporting one or more selected estimates as a compressed (zipped) extensible markup language (XML) file. Exporting estimate data allows you to store a backup copy of your estimates in XML format and import it into Sage Estimating later.

  1. From the top of the Manage Estimates window, click [Create export file].
  2. In the Create Export File pane (the right-hand pane), type the file path and file name of the zip file where you want your exported estimate data stored.

    3. Alternatively, you can click [Browse] and select the destination folder.

  3. Type a description for the export file to summarize the export file contents and purpose.
  4. Select the check box next to each estimate you want to export.
    • If you select the check box for an estimate database, branch, or sub-branch in the list, Sage Estimating automatically selects all estimates and sub-branches beneath it for export.
    • If you have more than one SQL Server instance set up for use with Sage Estimating, select the appropriate instance from the drop-down list to display the available estimate databases and estimates.
  5. Click [Export] to create the zip (export) file.

<current server> Displays your SQL Server instance name.
<export file location>

Type the file path and file name where you want to save the exported estimate data.

Alternatively, you can click [Browse] to select a file location.
[Browse]

Click to open the Select the Export File window so you can select the destination folder and export file for the selected estimate or estimates.
[Open Folder] Click to open the folder specified in the <export file location> box.
<description> If desired, type a brief summary describing the export file. You can use the summary to identify the contents and purpose of the exported data later.
<estimate list>

Select the check box of the estimates or estimate databases that you want to export.

If you select an estimate branch, all estimates within the estimate branch are automatically selected for export. You can clear the check box for each estimate database individually that you do not want to export.
[Export]

Click to export the selected estimates and estimate databases to the file name and file path specified in the <export file location> box.

The Sage Estimating software exports the data as a zipped XML file.
[Cancel] Click to close the Create Export File window without exporting any estimate data.
