Reformatting an existing Excel update file
To convert an existing Excel update file from a number format to a text format:
- Open your Excel update file and verify that phases are listed in their complete and correct format.
- From the File menu, select Save As to open the Save as window.
- In the Save in field, specify the location
where you want to save your update file. Click the arrow to select another
location, or click
on the toolbar to move up levels.
- In the File name field, enter a name followed by .txt with no spaces and surrounded by quotes (for example, "name.txt").
- In the Save as type field, select the comma separated file type (*csv).
- Click [Save].
- Click [OK] in the multiple sheets message window to save the active sheet.
- Click [Yes] in the next message window to keep the CSV format you selected.
Your update file is now treated as a text file. Your phases will be saved exactly as you entered them, retaining any trailing zeros after the decimal.
