Importing an Exported Address Book

You can import an address book that you exported from Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate in XML format.

Tip: To export an address book, open Address Book in Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, and then select Export Contacts to XML File... from the Tools menu. For more information, see the Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate help.

Often, your contacts in Accounting are the same in Estimating—for example, an Estimating subcontractor might also be an AP vendor. You can save time by exporting an address book from Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate and importing it into Sage Estimating.

When you re-import an updated address book into Estimating, only new contact information is updated.

Note: Sage Estimating (SQL) uses only one Address Book database.

You define the Address Book database using the Installation wizard when you first install Estimating with a new SQL instance. You can change this selection in the Estimating Management Console when you search from the Address Book pane.

To import an exported address book:

  1. In the Estimating Management Console, click [Address Book ] on the ribbon.
  2. In the Companies/Contacts pane, on the toolbar, click the Import Address Book An image of the Import Address Book iconicon.
  3. In the Import Address Book window that appears, in the text box, use the Browse button to select the exported address book (an XML file) that you want to import.
  4. Click [OK].
