In models, defaults are fixed values or assumptions that are usually the same each time you take off a model. They can also be questions and question formulas. Defaults reduce the amount of input needed during model takeoff because Estimating uses them to prefill the corresponding fields. During takeoff, no input is necessary unless you want to change the value in a particular field. In some cases, you can hide variables with defaults and ignore them entirely during takeoff.
