Cost basis options for addons
The Cost basis option that you select is used to calculate the cost of the addon. For details about the types of costs, click any option below:

Category uses one or more cost category amounts.
With this cost basis, Estimating applies the addon only to items within the specified range. If you allocate the addon, it is prorated only across items within that range.

Subcategory uses a subcategory total.
With this cost basis, Estimating applies the addon only to items within the specified range. If you allocate the addon, it is prorated only across items within that range.

Total uses the previous subtotal, current total, or estimate total.
With this cost basis, when you allocate the addon, Estimating prorates the addon amount only across items within that range. The addon amount itself is not affected by the specified range.

Hours uses the total labor or equipment hours.
With this cost basis, Estimating applies the addon only to items within the specified range. If you allocate the addon, it is prorated only across items within that range.

Additional hours uses labor or equipment hours extended at a specified hourly rate.
With this cost basis, Estimating applies the addon only to items within the specified range. If you allocate the addon, it is prorated only across items within that range.

Project info uses the contract amount, job size, or job duration.
With this cost basis, when you allocate the addon, Estimating prorates the addon amount only across items within that range. The addon amount itself is not affected by the specified range.

Bond uses up to five percentage amounts and limits.

Lump sum applies a specified monetary amount to one or more categories.
