Using formulas to calculate item takeoff quantities (Assembly takeoff)
-
In the variable pane,
enter a value for each variable.
-
Click .
If the assembly
contains a select-at-takeoff item, the Item List displays so you can select
the appropriate item for the assembly.
If the assembly
contains an item table, Sage Estimating (SQL) inserts the appropriate item from the
table into the takeoff grid based on the values you entered for the variables
used by the table.
Sage Estimating (SQL) uses the formula calculation assigned to the assembly
to calculate the quantity for the entire assembly. It uses the formula
or factor calculation assigned to each item to calculate the item takeoff
quantities and then displays them in the Quantity column (inside the takeoff
grid).

(optional) Enter another .
For more information, see Adding a pass.
-
(optional) Review each pass.
For more information, see Pass Audit window.
Note: If necessary, you can:
-
Undo the last pass.
On the Assembly Takeoff window, click . The Sage Estimating (SQL) software
removes the last pass you added to the assembly. You can undo multiple
passes.
-
Replace a pass.
- In the list of passes
on the Assembly Takeoff window, select the pass you want to replace. The
dimensions for that pass display in the Variable pane.
- Move the cursor to
the Variable pane and edit the dimension values you want to change.
-
Click .
Sage Estimating (SQL) creates two passes labeled:
- Reversing
pass <original pass number>
This pass reverses the original pass from the estimate. It has the
same dimension values as the original pass, but its Quantity equals -1.
- Replacing
pass <original pass number>
This pass replaces the original pass in the estimate.
Sage Estimating (SQL) labels the original passPass
replaced by <new pass number>.
Sage Estimating (SQL) calculates the new takeoff quantities and
adds them to the existing quantities.
-
Enter notes about a pass.
- In the list of passes
on the Assembly Takeoff window, select the desired pass.
- Click .
- Enter the notes, and
then click [OK] to close the Notes
window.
The notes print on the Takeoff Audit report if the Print dimensions option is selected.
You can also see the notes when reviewing assemblies in the Assembly Takeoff window; click on a pass in the list to see the notes in a pop-up window.
