You should develop naming guidelines for crews, crew resources, and rate tables to help ensure consistency within your own estimates and estimates prepared by other estimators in your company.

Within the naming scheme there are 3 main concerns:

Do you want to set up group crews to organize your crews into work-related groups?
Do you want your crew names to contain only numbers, or a mix of numbers and other characters?

How many characters will your crew names have?

Shorter codes are easier to enter because they require less typing.

Tips:

Make names as descriptive as possible to help you remember the purpose of the crew, resource, or rate table.
Names are case sensitive and can be up to 20 characters long.
Eventually, you may have hundreds of crews, resources, and rate tables, so it is important to use consistent naming schemes that help you find them in their respective lists.
