Tips for naming formulas

• Make names as descriptive as possible to help you remember the purpose of the formula.

• List the types of calculations you need formulas to perform. Examples

  Examples of calculation types:

  • Area
    
  • Volume
    
  • Depth
    
  • Perimeter
    
  • Slope
    
  • Cubic Yards (CY or Cuyd)
    
  • Square Feet (SF or Sqft)
    
  • Lineal Feet (LF)
    
  • Tons
    
  • Squares (SQ)

• To group similar formulas together on lists, start each formula name with one of the calculation types you defined. Examples

  Examples of formula names that start with a calculation type:

  • Vol CY Backfill
  • Vol CY Wall Conc
  • Area SF Openings
  • Area SF Plaster

• For readability, enter formula names using initial capital letters.

• Note that formula names are case sensitive.
