Formatting job cost phase codes
It is important for the job cost phase codes in Sage Estimating (SQL) to have the same format (length, suffix, punctuation, and justification) as the codes in your job cost application. This is easy if you are installing either Sage Estimating (SQL) or job cost for the first time. If not, it's best to use the job cost phase format of the application already in operation.
If you are starting a new Sage Estimating (SQL) standard database
After obtaining a list of job cost phase codes from your Accounting department, set up the format in the Estimating Management Console. Then simply enter the correct job cost phase code for each phase, item, and addon in the standard database.
If you are setting up a new job cost application
Print the standard database reports for phases, items, and addons in Sage Estimating (SQL). Your Accounting department can use the reports as a guide for setting up job cost to match Sage Estimating (SQL).
Tip: You can import data such as cost codes and categories into your standard database from Job Cost. When you set up your standard database, select Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate as the Job cost interface type.
