BOM descriptions are the common terminology used to order the material items in your estimates. In the standard database, you might have S.O.G. Conc 3500 psi, Wall Conc 3500 psi, and Footing Conc 3500 psi. All you need when ordering from the supplier is a single BOM description called "3500 psi Concrete".

When you drop an item on a material class folder, its description becomes the BOM description. If you prefer different wording, you can easily change the label on a folder.

The folders at the middle level of the Material Classes list in the Bill of Materials window show the BOM descriptions.
