Item takeoff is a convenient way to take off groups of items and quickly calculate their takeoff quantities. You can review items and modify them for use in the current estimate before you generate them to the spreadsheet.
Item takeoff involves:

Opening the Item Takeoff window:
- On the ribbon, from the group on the tab, click .
- In classic view, click Takeoff > Item Takeoff or click
on the toolbar.

Double-clicking (or dragging and dropping) the items you want to take off.

Entering or calculating item takeoff quantities.

Generating the items to the spreadsheet.
