Feature list

Assign permissions to each role using the Features list in the Add Role window or the Edit Role window. Users you assign to the role then inherit the permissions. Refer to Understanding roles for more information.

Feature Notes
Change estimate security

Users with this permission can use the Estimate Information window in the Sage Estimating software to give other users permissions for viewing or editing an individual estimate.

Without this permission, users with the Create estimate permission can create an estimate but cannot give other users permission from within Sage Estimating to view or edit it.

Create estimate

Allows users to create estimates.

You must also give an user the Change estimate security permission if you want him or her to be able to give other users permission to view or edit estimates.

Edit global settings Allows users to edit unit conversions.
Edit shared catalog

Allows users to make changes to the estimate organization in the Estimate catalog such as adding or removing organizational branches and moving estimates.

Without this permission, users with View or Edit permissions to one or more estimates in the catalog can select from the catalog but cannot make changes to the estimate organization.

Edit standard database

Allows users to create and make changes to a standard database, such as adding new items and assemblies.

Without this permission, users with the View database and allow takeoff permission can take off items and assemblies from a standard database, but they cannot create a new database or change a database.

Edit standard database settings

Together with the Edit standard database permission, allows users to change database settings and enter notes for a database in the Estimating Management Console

Note: You need both Edit standard database and Edit standard database settings permissions to see the [Edit] button on the Standard Database tab.

Manage custom report

Allows users to create and edit custom estimate reports using the Report Manager in the Estimating Management Console.

Without this permission, users cannot access the Report Manager (even with Run management console permissions) to add or edit custom estimate reports.

Manage shared layouts

Allows users to add, edit, and delete shared spreadsheet layouts and custom report layouts in Sage Estimating.

Without this permission, users can use shared spreadsheet layouts and custom report layouts but they cannot edit or delete them. They also cannot share a spreadsheet layout or custom report layout that they create with other users.

Note: Users can create custom reports and spreadsheet layouts for their own personal use with or without this permission.

Migrate data (limited)

In conjunction with Run management console permission, this permission allows users to migrate or remigrate an address book from Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.

Users that also have Create estimate permission can migrate estimates.

Run management console

Allows users to access the Estimating Management Console. Users with this permission can start the Estimating Management Console but require additional permissions to access its features. For example, you must also assign the Create estimate permission for users to create estimates from within the Estimating Management Console.

Without this permission, users cannot access the Estimating Management Console.

View database and allow takeoff

Allows users to view a list of standard databases in Sage Estimating and perform takeoff to an estimate using items and assemblies from a standard database.

Without this permission, users cannot perform takeoff to an estimate nor can they view a list of available standard databases.

You can assign a varying combination of permissions to a role. For example, you can assign permissions for creating estimates to a role but not assign permissions for changing estimate security. Users in the role can then create new estimates but cannot give other users the ability to view or edit the estimate.

Users assigned to the Administrator role have all of these permissions automatically. You cannot change permissions for the Administrator role.
