Adding a yes/no question to a model

Before you begin

If you have not already opened the Model window and selected the model you want to work with, do so now. How?

To add a yes/no question to a model:

  1. Select a blank line where you want to insert the question.
  2. Click image\yesnoq.gif to enter a blank yes/no question in the model.
  3. Place your cursor in the text area of the line, type the actual question and press Enter.
  4. (optional) Enter the default value to prefill for the question during takeoff.
  5. To enter a default answer to the question, you can:

  6. (optional) Click image\qproprty.gif to open the Properties window where you can name the question or enter a helpful note about the question that appears during takeoff.
  7. Set up additional yes/no questions in the same manner. When you finish, click [OK].

Tips:  

  • For information on how to use a yes/no question to display or hide an item or assembly line, click here.
  • The Insert Line – Yes/No Question Line command is available when you right-click on a line header.
  • Once you add a line to a model, you can copy or move it.
  • When adding a question formula as a default value for a yes/no question, Estimating enters the calculation to the right of the check box.
