Variable pane

Lists all variables used by the formulas attached to the assembly items. Each variable appears just once regardless of how many formulas use that variable. Use this pane to enter a value for each variable. These values are used to calculate the takeoff quantities.

The Quantity is used as a multiplier for all variables. Entering a value greater than one is like taking off the same thing several times.

The pass number in the lower left corner is the number of the last calculation of the quantities in the takeoff grid. The number increases by one each time you click [Add to Qty] or [Replace Qty].

Buttons

  • An image of the Notes button opens the Notes window so you can add information about the current pass.
  • An image showing the Add Pass button adds the calculated quantities to the takeoff quantities already in the takeoff grid.
  • An image showing the Replace Pass button replaces the take off quantities already in the takeoff grid with the calculated quantities.
  • An image showing the Undo Pass button subtracts the previously calculated pass from the takeoff quantities. You can continue removing passes until all quantities reach zero.

Tips:

  • When you review an assembly, a gray background indicates the standard database used to take off the assembly is not open. To change an assembly pass, open the standard database that was used to take off the assembly.
  • Select View Pass Audit on the shortcut menu in the List pane to see the variables in a horizontal list.
