Select/Edit Estimate Units window
Note: The name and function of this window depend on how you opened it.
You use the Select Estimate Units window to select valid units of measure for unit fields in the spreadsheet and in the Phase, Item, Assembly, WBS Value, Formula, and Variable windows for the current estimate.
You use the Edit Estimate Units window to define the valid units of measure that you can assign to phases, items, formulas, variables, assemblies, subcategories, material classes, work breakdown structures, job size, and project duration for the estimate.
To open the Select Estimate Units window:
On the Estimating spreadsheet, right-click in unit fields or columns, and then click Select Unit from the shortcut menu.
To open the Edit Estimate Units window, do one of the following:
- On the ribbon, from the group on the tab, click .
- On the Estimating spreadsheet:
Right-click in unit fields or columns, and then click Select Unit from the shortcut menu.
Select the unit of measure you want to edit, and then click [
].

Display the Select Estimate Units window.

Select the unit on the grid, and then click the [
] button.Alternatively, you can select a unit defined for the open standard database by clicking the [
] button and then selecting the unit from that list.
- Open the Edit Estimate Units window.

Click [
]. to create a new row in the grid. -
In the Name column for the new row, type up to eight alphanumeric characters to identify the unit.

If you are defining a unit of time, in the Type column, select the time (such as week, crew hour, and so on) from the list.

In the Description column, type a description to help you to remember how this value is used when you need to select a unit, later.

When you have finished adding units for the selected item, click [Edit Units window.

- Open the Edit Estimate Units window.

Select the unit on the grid.
(Alternatively, you can select a unit defined for the open standard database by clicking the [
] button and then selecting the unit from that list.) -
Type a new name, type, or description for the unit.

When you have finished editing units for the selected item, click [Edit Units window.

- Open the Edit Estimate Units window.

Click the row indicator to select the unit you want to delete.

When you have finished deleting units, click [Edit Units window.
