Edit Filters (Database Editor)

Use the Edit Filter window in the Database Editor to create new filters or edit existing filters. You can also rename existing filters.

Tip: You can use an existing filter (including any default filter) as the basis for a new filter, which can save you time.

  1. Display the Manage Filters window by selecting Home tab > Customize group > Manage Filters.
  2. If you want to create a new filter, click [New]

If you want to modify an existing filter, select the filter, and then click [Edit].

If you want to copy an existing filter, select the filter, and then click [Copy].

If you want to rename an existing filter, select the filter, and then click [Rename].

Note: You cannot rename a filter while you are editing it in the Edit Filter window.

  3. If you are creating a new filter, modifying or copying an existing filter, or renaming a filter, type the name in the Filter Name field.

The first character must be a letter or a number.

  4. If you are creating or modifying a filter, use the box below the Filter Name to set rules for the filter, as follows:
    1. Click the plus sign.
    2. From the field list that appears, select the field to use as a filter.
    3. Select an operator from the operator list.
    4. Type a filter value in the value box.
    5. Continue setting up rules in the filter using either And or Or to separate them.
    6. When you have finished adding rules, click [OK].
  5. If you have renamed a filter, select the old filter, and then click [Delete].
