About License Administration
Sage Estimating software includes the License Administration program. As an administrator of Sage Estimating, you use the License Administration program to activate licenses and monitor license uses.
Overview of licensing steps
After installing Sage Estimating on a server and (for CORE users) on individual workstations:
-
On the server, use the License Administration window to designate the computer on your network as the Sage license server, which will regulate and monitor license uses. The license server should maintain a constant connection to the Internet so that Sage Estimating users can acquire license uses when they need them.
You also enter and send registration information to Sage to activate the licenses for the products you have purchased.
-
On workstations, individual users connect their Sage Estimating installations to the Sage license server using the Configuration Wizard.
Sage Estimating users must either acquire a license through the Sage license server or use one of the following limited license types before they can use the software:
-
Demo Mode. This type of license is valid for a short period of time so that you can try out the software.
Demo mode also limits the number of items you can have in the database.
- File Based. This type of license is available in very rare circumstances, and requires the assistance of Customer Support.
Tip: If a user will be offline for a time, they can also check out a license use. Checking out a license reduces the number of license uses available to other Sage Estimating users until the license is checked back in. (In Sage Estimating, you click or .)
The ability to check out a license use is applicable only to users of Estimating CORE.
