About Conversion/Productivity factors

A conversion factor indicates how many of one unit it takes to equal the other. For example, suppose you normally take off asphalt by the cubic yard, but order material by the ton. You could measure asphalt in terms of cubic yards/ton or tons/cubic yard:

A productivity factor indicates either how much can be accomplished in a given amount of time or how much time it takes to accomplish a given amount of work. For example, suppose you normally take off asphalt by the cubic yard, but order labor by the hour. You could calculate labor using a productivity factor given in hours/cubic yard or cubic yards/hour:
