Prepare Database: Integration Options

You use this window to set up the integration process and to select which files to include. You can choose to transfer data to a new or existing Estimating Standard database, or update your existing data.

Which integration process would you like?

The option that determines which integration process to run. Choose one of the following settings:

• Transfer Data allows you to transfer some or all of the Means items into a new or existing Estimating Standard database.

  Note: You cannot set job cost interface specifications for a new Estimating Standard database using this option. You need to first create a new database and set up the job cost specifications (such as phase suffix and company) then transfer RSMeans data to the new database using the Existing Database option in this window. See Setting job cost interface specifications for a new database for more information.

• Update Data allows you to update prices and other Means item information that you previously transferred to an Estimating Standard database.

Which type of Estimating database do you want to use?

The option that determines where to store Means information in Sage Estimating.

• If you want to create a new Estimating Standard database:

  1. Select New Database.

  2. Click the [Create] button.

     The New Standard Database window opens.

  3. Follow the usual steps to create a new database. For example:
     • Enter the name of the new database.
     • Set crew pricing options.

     Notes:  

     • This option is available only when you transfer data.
     • You cannot set job cost interface specifications for a new Estimating Standard database using this option. You need to first create a new database and set up the job cost specifications (such as phase suffix and company) then transfer RSMeans data to the new database using the Existing Database option in this window. See Setting job cost interface specifications for a new database for more information.
• If you want to use an existing Estimating Standard database:

  1. Select Existing Database.

  2. Click [Select] to display a list of available databases, and then double-click the database you want.

  Note: This is the only available option when you update data.

Select the Means Integrator Cost Data file(s) (.MIMX) you want to use.

This field allows you to choose which Means Integrator Cost Data files you want to integrate. Browse to find the full path of the file you want to use. You may choose more than one.
