Before you begin

If you have not already opened the Model window and selected the model you want to work with:

  1. On the Data menu, click Models.

    The Database Model window opens.

  2. Click the list button (List button) and then select the model you want to work with.
  3. Click [OK].

When you click a line in an existing model, Estimating refreshes the current variables from the items and assemblies in the database. If it encounters any changes made to the database since you last loaded the model, it asks you if you would like to run Check Model.

To change a line type:

  1. Select the line you want to change and choose the proper command from the toolbar.
  2. Estimating asks you to confirm that you want to overwrite the selected line in your model.
  3. Click [Yes] to replace the selected line with the new line. Estimating will retain the original question text if you are overwriting one question with another.
  4. Click [No] to insert the new line above the selected line.
  5. Estimating enters the new line in the model.

Tips:  

  • The Change Line Type – <line name> command is also available when you right-click on a line header.
  • Estimating warns you if changing a line type will affect any other questions or question formulas in the model. From the warning, click [View Affected Lines] to open the Questions in Use window where you can view a list of the questions or question formulas that use the line you have selected to change.
