Total cost basis for addons

This cost basis uses the previous subtotal, the current total, or the estimate total to calculate the addon.

Addons, or markups, are indirect costs that apply to the whole estimate. Addon amounts can be based on a wide variety of costs such as the total cost of the estimate, category costs (labor, material, and equipment, for example), or selected hours.

Important! To obtain the correct amount, your addons must be properly positioned on the Totals window. For help on positioning, see Moving rows in the Totals window.

Calculation: The formula depends on your selection for the basis of the calculation:

  • For Previous subtotal and Current total, the addon amount is a percentage of costs to date, and the formula is:

[Previous or Current total] * [Percentage].

  • For Estimate total, the addon amount equals a percentage of the grand total, and the formula is:

    [(Estimate total) / (1-Percentage)] – [Estimate total].

Tips:

  • If the Totals window includes a totals-based addon with a range, Sage Estimating (SQL) uses that range only when allocating the addon, not when calculating the amount of the addon.

  • When setting up the addon, you can select which category, or categories, to which to allocate the addon.
