Because estimate and standard database information is stored separately, you can work with an estimate without having a standard database open. This is convenient for several typical procedures. For example, you can:

Send an estimate electronically to another associate who uses Sage Estimating (SQL) but does not have access to the standard database. They can then add notes or perform takeoff using a different standard database, and then send it back.
Note: If you are using multiple standard databases and you intend to use Review Assemblies, estimators need to keep track of the standard database used for assembly takeoffs.

Work on an estimate from a location that cannot access the standard database.

Collect estimates that need to be merged from branch offices without having to open the estimates with the same standard database first.

Review an estimate after you have modified or deleted the associated standard database.

Send from a subcontractor to a general contractor an estimate with a list of estimate items as alternates that they can easily modify and send back to the subcontractor.
