Step 2 (Merge Estimate wizard)

Use this tab to specify how Sage Estimating (SQL) handles duplicate items, overline takeoff quantities and units of measure, audit trails, and custom factors when merging the selected estimates.

Combining items

You decide how much detail to include in the target estimate.

• If you keep all items separate, the resulting estimate includes the complete set of items—as if everything had been taken off in one estimate.
• If you combine matching items, the resulting estimate has fewer items, but it does not include:
  • Information from Bid Grids.
  • Assembly details.

Merging the audit trail

Select the Merge audit trail option if you want to merge the audit information for a target estimate.

Applying factors to the merged estimate

To apply a factor table to the estimate, click Apply factors.

If you select this option, Estimating applies the factor table from the master estimate, if you specified one. If you did not specify a master estimate, it will apply the factor table from the first estimate to the merged estimate.

Merging overline quantities and units of measure

To specify how to merge overline takeoff quantities and units of measure, click [Advanced Options] . You can then select the following options:

• Clear the unit of measure if any unit of measure is blank.

  This option clears the overline unit of measure in the target estimate if any of the source estimates has a blank unit of measure.

  Note: If units are different, the quantity is cleared regardless of whether the checkbox is selected or not.

• Clear all lump sum quantities

  This option clears all quantities in the target estimate. Example

• Clear the quantity if any quantity or unit of measure is blank.

  This option clears the quantity in the target estimate if any of the source estimates does not have a quantity or a unit of measure. Examples

  The unit is blank

  If units are different, the quantity is cleared regardless of whether the checkbox is selected or not.

Click [Merge Estimates] when you are ready to begin processing.
