Adding or editing a spreadsheet filter
You use the Edit Spreadsheet Filter Expression window to add or edit a spreadsheet filter.

Open the Edit Spreadsheet Filter Expression window in one of the following ways:
- On the ribbon, from the Spreadsheet Display group on the Home tab, click the Create New Filter
button. - If you are working in the Edit Spreadsheet Filters window, click the [] button.
- On the ribbon, from the Spreadsheet Display group on the Home tab, click the Create New Filter

Double-click elements in the Fields, Operators, Functions, and Unique Field Values columns in the order needed to build the filter.
As you double-click elements, Estimating inserts them in the Expression box.

When you finish building the expression, click [].
Estimating opens the Edit Spreadsheet Filter Expression window. The Expression text box is blank.

Display the filter in one of the following ways:
- On the ribbon, from the Spreadsheet Display group on the Home tab, select the filter from the list of filters and then click the Edit Current Filter
button. - If you are working in the Edit Spreadsheet Filters window, click the ellipsis icon in the Filter Expression column for the filter you want to edit.
Estimating displays the selected filter in the Edit Spreadsheet Filter Expression window with the current expression in the Expression text box.
- On the ribbon, from the Spreadsheet Display group on the Home tab, select the filter from the list of filters and then click the Edit Current Filter

Double-click elements in the Fields, Operators, Functions, and Unique Field Values columns in the order needed to build the filter. As you double-click elements, Estimating inserts them in the Expression box.

When you finish building the expression, click [].
Tips:
- You can manually delete any unwanted part of the expression by selecting it and then pressing the Delete key on your keyboard or typing over it.
- To insert a field, operator, function, or value within the expression, click the expression at the exact place where you want to make the insertion, and then double-click the element you want to insert.
- Estimating displays any logical errors you make in the Expression Errors box below the Expression column. Make sure there are no errors before you save the filter.
