Substitute Item command (spreadsheet)
Use this command (shortcut menu) to replace one or more items in the spreadsheet. The command opens the Item list so you can choose the items for the substitution.
The replacement items assume the takeoff quantity, sequence number, location, WBS code values (only Takeoff types and Detail types that have not been changed in the spreadsheet), assembly sequence, rate table selections, and adjustments of the original items. When pricing crews for a substitute item, Sage Estimating (SQL) uses the rate tables assigned to the original items. If necessary, you can change the quantity or use a command on the shortcut menu to change the calculation method.
Substitute Item is on the shortcut menu for most spreadsheet columns. The command is available only when a standard database is open.
Tips:
- The command is not available when items are combined.
-
You need to specifically select each item to be replaced. Selecting an overline does not automatically include all of the items within that overline.
- Items that belong to a Bid Grid cannot be replaced. If the selection includes such items, you can delete the Bid Grid, skip items one at a time, or skip all items that belong to Bid Grids.
- If the selection includes duplicate items, you have the option of replacing all or none of the duplicate items.
