Notes column

This spreadsheet column shows the beginning of any notes entered for an item or level. Initially, the notes at the item level come from the standard database. If there is a subcontractor or vendor assigned to the item, the name and phone number of the contact and the notes from the subcontractor or vendor appear at the end of the notes.

Tips:

  • A paper clip in the row header means there is a note for this spreadsheet row.

The row header is the fixed column along the far left side of the spreadsheet or Totals page.

    • Click to select the whole row.
    • In a spreadsheet window only, you can double-click to expand or collapse a row.
    • Right-click to change the font for the selected rows.
  • Collapse the spreadsheet to see notes for an overline. The Options command controls whether notes display when the levels are expanded.

An overline is any level of the spreadsheet based on the spreadsheet sequence. For example, if the spreadsheet is in Phase/Item order, the primary overline is group phase and the secondary overline is phase.

  • To edit the notes, open the Notes tab of the Detail window or right-click and choose Notes. The changes apply only to the current estimate.

  • There is an option to print the level notes in reports for an estimate.
