Copying a value from an estimate to other estimates in the estimates grid

You can quickly copy values from one estimate to other estimates in the estimate grid using these commands on the shortcut menu:

  • Fill Down. You use this command to copy the value from the first selected cell in a column to adjacent cells directly below it, saving you from having to enter the same information repeatedly.

  • Fill Selected. You use this command to copy the value from an estimate to other selected estimates in the same column. You do not have to select a contiguous range—this command is useful when the cells are not adjacent.

Using Fill Down

To fill adjacent cells in a column:

  1. In the estimates grid, select a contiguous range cells you want to update in a column. (Hold down the Shift key as you select the range of cells.)

  2. Right-click and then select Fill Down or CtrlD.

Sage Estimating takes the value in the first (top) selected cell and copies it into the selected adjacent cells below.

Using Fill Selected

To fill selected cells in a column:

  1. In the estimates grid, select the cells you want to update in a single column. (Hold down the Ctrl key as you select individual cells.)

  2. Right-click the cell that contains the value you want to copy.

  3. Click Fill selected.

Note: This command is available only if your selection includes cells in a single column and includes at least one other editable cell.

Sage Estimating fills the other editable selected cells in that column with the value from the cell you right-clicked.

If you fill user-defined field values, Sage Estimating also applies related field information as needed. (If the copied value cannot be used with the destination field type, Sage Estimating clears that value.)
