Properties window
This window contains information about the selected model line. Use this window to enter the name, help notes, and other properties unique to the selected line in your model. You can enter character or numeric limits for input, messages to appear during takeoff, field size, and other options based on the line type. Estimating saves your entries when you click [OK].
To open: On the Model window, select a line in the model
and click 
For more information, click
on the title
bar of the window, and then click a field or button.
Tips:
- If you don't see all of the fields, pull down the bottom border of the Properties window.
- The Properties window always stays on top of the Model window.
As you move from line to line, the title bar of the Properties window shows the details of the line where the cursor is.
Items in this window
Separator properties
This grid lists all the properties used to define the selected line. To make changes to any of the properties for this line, place your cursor in the corresponding field and enter a new value.
- Separator Width Defines how thick the separator is. Enter a width in points.
Image properties
This grid lists all the properties used to define the selected line. To make changes to any of the properties for this line, place your cursor in the corresponding field and enter a new value.
- Graphic
File Displays the file name and extension of the image file that
displays in the line. To change the image, enter the path and file name
of a new image. If necessary, click
to navigate through
the folders on your computer.
Yes/No Question properties
This grid lists all the properties used to define the selected line. To make changes to any of the properties for this line, place your cursor in the corresponding field and enter a new value.
- Question Name Defines the name of the question. Enter a question name (up to 20 characters.) By default, Estimating names each question in the model Q#, where # is the number of the line that contains the question. Question names appear with the question text on lists and reports.

Notes Enter a memo (up to 256 characters) that explains the expected input for the question during takeoff. Your entry appears in a popup window during takeoff to explain the input being requested. For example, for the question "Include Fire Protection System?", the following message might appear:
If the job includes a fire sprinkler system, answer Yes. A sub item will be generated.
Text Question properties
This grid lists all the properties used to define the selected line. To make changes to any of the properties for this line, place your cursor in the corresponding field and enter a new value.
- Question Name Defines the name of the question. Enter a question name (up to 20 characters.) By default, Estimating names each question in the model Q#, where # is the number of the line that contains the question. Question names appear with the question text on lists and reports.
- Input Length Enter the length, in number of characters, allowed for the response to this question. A response to a text question can contain up to 256 characters.
- Minimum Enter the minimum alphanumeric value that can be entered for this question at takeoff. A limit helps prevent errors during takeoff. A warning message appears if you enter a value less than the minimum.
- Maximum Enter the maximum alphanumeric value that can be entered for this question at takeoff. A limit helps prevent errors during takeoff. A warning message appears if you enter a value greater than the maximum.
- Notes Enter a memo (up to 256 characters) that explains the expected input for the question during takeoff. Your entry appears in a popup window during takeoff to explain the input being requested. For example, for the question " What type of insulation is used for Layer 1?", the following message might appear:

If insulation is not used, enter None.
Numeric Question properties
This grid lists all the properties used to define the selected line. To make changes to any of the properties for this line, place your cursor in the corresponding field and enter a new value.
- Question Name Defines the name of the question. Enter a question name (up to 20 characters.) By default Estimating names each question in the model Q#, where # is the number of the line that contains the question. Question names appear with the question text on lists and reports.
- Number of decimals Enter the number of digits (0-3) that can be entered after the decimal of the input value. Values can be truncated at the specified number of digits.
- Minimum Enter the smallest value that can be entered for this question at takeoff. A limit helps prevent errors during takeoff. A warning message appears if you enter a value less than the minimum.
- Maximum Enter the largest value that can be entered for this question at takeoff. A limit helps prevent errors during takeoff. A warning message appears if you enter a value greater than the maximum.

Enter the length in linear feet. If none is required, enter zero.
