When to set up a bill of materials
Changing an existing material class
This window is used to enter the description, default subcontractor or vendor, and notes for each material class. After creating the material classes, you can set up a bill of materials (BOM) by assigning every material item to one of these classes. Sage Estimating (SQL) saves your entries when you click [OK].
To open the Material Class window:
In the Bill of Materials window, click [Add].
For more information, click 
on the title bar of the window, and then click a field or button.
Tip: Edit Material Classes is available on the shortcut menu when you are working with material classes in the spreadsheet.
