Example: The Comparison report can provide an effective way of showing how a project changes from its original scope through several iterations to its ultimate cost. All you need is a series of estimates reflecting the evolution of the project.

  1. Create a preliminary estimate containing the project as designed.
  2. Then instead of revising the estimate each time the project changes, make a copy of the estimate and add the changes to that version of the estimate.
  3. Print the Comparison report, including all versions of the estimate.

The resulting report for the series of estimates would quickly answer such questions as: "How did a 1.2 million concept end up costing double that amount?"
