Use Copy Sum

  • You can select Copy Sum from the toolbar, the shortcut menu, or by using Ctrl+Shift+A when two or more cells in the Takeoff Quantity column are selected.
  • Copy Sum is available regardless of the sorting sequence of the estimate.
  • Copy Sum is not available in combined mode.
  • When you use Copy Sum:
    • The selected cells are highlighted in yellow.
    • The total of the selected takeoff quantities is cleared from the Sum= cell. This total is stored on the system clipboard until the next time you select the Copy Sum or Copy options.
  • Once the total is pasted into a cell in the spreadsheet:
    • The yellow highlighting of the selected cells is removed. The total is no longer associated with those cells.
    • The properties of the cell into which the total is pasted apply. For example, if the font in the row in which the total is pasted is blue, the total amount will appear in that blue font.
  • If you select Copy Sum but then do any of the following before you paste the total, you cancel the Copy Sum process:
    • Copy something else to the clipboard.
    • Select another command or option from the menu, toolbar, or shortcut menu.
    • Make any keyboard entries, including the selection of other cells.

To obtain a total after it has been cleared from the clipboard, you need to reselect the takeoff quantity cells and reapply Copy Sum.
