Setting up a bill of materials (BOM)

Open the Database Bill of Materials window in one of the following ways:
- On the ribbon, from the Codes group on the Data tab, click Bill of Materials.
- In classic view, click Database menu > Bill of Materials.
Expand the Database Items list as needed and select one or more items to assign to the same material class.
- You can sort the item list in a different order. How?
- You can search the list to find a specific item. How?
Do you have linked item prices in your standard database? To assign linked items to the same material class as the selected items, select the Assign linked items check box.
Drag the selected items and drop them on the desired material class () in the Material Classes list. Do you need a material class that has not been set up yet? Click [Add] and enter the information for the new material class.

Sage Estimating creates a bill of materials (BOM) description folder () for the items (). It uses the description of the first selected item for the BOM description.

To display help for a list, click $image\windhlp.gif$ on the window and then click the list.
Customize the bill of materials as needed. How?
When you finish setting up your bill of materials, click [Close].
