Edit Role window

Use this window to edit a role, including its name and description, and associated permissions for accessing Sage Estimating tasks and features for all users and group members in the role. Use this window also to turn on or turn off the role.

Important! Make sure that the user logs off Sage Estimating before changing his or her permissions.

Example: You can name the role "Chief Estimator" and then permit users with this role to access all Sage Estimating software features except managing the SQL Server databases.

Note: You cannot edit the Administrator role.

The role appears in the Roles grid in the Roles tab when you click [OK].

To open this window, click [Security] at the top of the Estimating Management Console, select the Roles tab from the Security window, and then click [Edit].

Item Notes
Name

If desired, type a new name for the role.

Description Type an extended description for the role. The description helps you identify the role later by adding information such as the role's purpose, for example.
Enabled

Select this checkbox to turn on the role for use in Sage Estimating. Clear the checkbox to disable it.

Disabling a role that has users or groups already assigned to it removes all permissions for the associated users and groups. You must assign the affected users and groups to another role before they can access Sage Estimating features.

For example, suppose you have a network group named "California Branch Estimators," and you add them to the "Junior Estimator" role, thereby giving them estimate editing permissions. If you disable the Junior Estimator role later, all users in the "California Branch Estimators" network group lose the ability to view estimates in Sage Estimating.

Note: If an user or group also belongs to another role, he or she retains security permissions assigned to that role.

Select Features for Role

Select the checkbox for one or more features in the list to provide role members with access to it.

For example, select the Create estimate checkbox to allow users and groups in the role to create new estimates.

Clear any checkbox to prevent role member access to the associated feature.
