You can change detail information for an estimate item directly on the spreadsheet, or in a special window called the Detail window. This window is available from the spreadsheet, as well as during takeoff. When you change details for an estimate item in the Detail window, you do not affect the item in the standard database.
To change item details:

Click the item you want to change.

Open the Detail window
- On the Home tab, from the Estimate Views group, click Details.
- In classic view, click View menu > Detail Window.
Item information is organized on tabs.
Tip: Drag the bottom border of the window downward to display additional item information, such as Location, Waste percentage, and Sequence number.

Click the tab containing the details you want to change.

Make changes as needed.

Click [OK].

To display information in the Detail window for another item, simply click the item.
You can close the Detail window when you finish changing estimate items, or leave it open while you work. You can also "float" or reposition the Detail window. For more information, see Docking and Window Positioning.
