Understanding Pervasive errors

Certain error conditions may exist in your Pervasive data files. The Pervasive database engine reports these errors to the Data Migration Utility when performing data migration. If you encounter such error conditions, most of them result in a failure of the data migration process.

Pervasive error codes are not the same as standard migration error codes. Pervasive error codes are normally prefaced by one of the following messages:

  • "TSIO status code"
  • "Pervasive status code"
  • "Btrieve status code"

Pervasive error conditions are often caused by missing or misplaced files.

If you receive a Pervasive error condition:

  1. Review the text of the error message carefully.

    Most Pervasive error messages describe the error condition and recommended course of action.

  2. Verify that all required Pervasive data and support files are present. See Understanding Pervasive files for details.
  3. If you receive a "reading from or writing to disk" error during your initial data migration, try restarting the data migration.
  4. If you are unable to resolve the error condition, contact your system administrator or Customer Support.
