About Repeat, Renumber, and Duplicate
Repeat, renumber, or duplicate to manipulate groups of data elements.
Repeat
Repeat creates many data elements from one template element. For example, use it and select the Replace with and Increment by check box to create slab concrete items of varying depth from one item.
-
Create a template item 1000 with a description of “Slab Concrete – @@@”.
Use Repeat to start at item 1004, increment the last digit by 4, and repeat 4 times.
Repeat New Item New Item Description 1004
Slab Concrete – @@@"
1008
Slab Concrete – @@@"
1012
Slab Concrete – @@@"
1016
Slab Concrete – @@@"
-
Now use Replace with Increment to replace @@@ with the concrete thicknesses.
Replace with Increment New item New item description 1004
Slab Concrete – 4"
1008
Slab Concrete – 6"
1012
Slab Concrete – 8"
1016
Slab Concrete – 10"
Renumber
Renumber easily moves data elements around in the database. For example, you can move a series of phases from group phase 1400.000 to group phase 9500.00. This example sets the start phase and sequences the second to the last digit.
Selection | Result |
---|---|
1400.020 |
9500.020 |
1420.000 |
9500.040 |
1420.020 |
9500.060 |
1420.040 |
9500.080 |
Duplicate
Duplicate creates copies of data elements. You could then use Replace to create similar data elements. For example, create copies of Standard and Better 2x4x6 – 2x4x12 then replace Standard and Better in the copies with Pressure Treated.
Original Item Name | Copied Item Name | Item Description |
---|---|---|
1010 |
1500 |
