About Phase and Item Increments

When you duplicate, repeat, or renumber multiple phases or items, you must increment one or more digits in the phase or item number. Keep the following points in mind when you increment these numbers:

• You cannot use an increment value that causes a phase number to exceed 20 characters or that causes the number of characters in a phase suffix to exceed the setting for the database.
• You cannot use an increment value that causes an item number to exceed 15 characters.
• You must increment a number, not an alphabetical character.
• Database Editor ignores alphabetical characters. For example, if you increment the 8 in phase 10A8.000 three times with an increment value of 4, you get phases 10A8.000, 10A12.000, and 10A16.000.
