Data migration prerequisites
You must meet certain prerequisites to successfully migrate your Sage Estimating data to the Microsoft® SQL Server® database.
- A copy of the Sage Timberline Office Estimating software (version 9.6 or later) must be installed on the workstation or server where your Pervasive data is currently stored.
- You must register your Sage Estimating software.
- You must specify both an estimate database and an address book database in the Data Migration settings.
If these prerequisites are not met, you may receive one of the following messages when you start the Data Migration Utility:
Message | Description |

You must have a copy of Pervasive SQL software installed on the local workstation before you can migrate your data. Install Sage Timberline Office Estimating on the workstation from your original Sage Timberline Office Estimating CD before trying the data migration again. |
The data migration process requires a local operating copy of the Pervasive database engine. The Sage Timberline Office Estimating software installation automatically installs a copy of the Pervasive software. Install the Sage Timberline Office Estimating software from the original CD to install a local copy of the Pervasive software. Then try the data migration again. |
The Pervasive SQL software failed to start. Reinstall Sage Timberline Office Estimating from your original Sage Timberline Office Estimating CD and try the data migration again. |
A local copy of the Pervasive software is installed but the Pervasive database engine could not be started. The Sage Timberline Office Estimating software installation automatically installs a copy of the Pervasive software. Reinstall the Sage Timberline Office Estimating software from the original CD (or DVD) and select the "Repair" option to reinstall a local copy of the Pervasive software. Then try the data migration again. |
No Address Book or Estimates database have been specified. |
Separate databases have not been specified for both the address book and estimate data. Sage Estimating maintains estimate, address book, and standard (item) data in separate databases. Select a separate database for both the address book and estimate data in the Settings window and try again. |
