Copying and pasting values across columns in the estimates grid

To quickly update estimates that have some of the same information, such as user-defined fields or WBS codes, you can copy a value or multiple adjacent values from one row, and then paste the copied values into another row starting from the first selected cell.

Notes:

You do not need to be editing a cell before you copy values.
If the grid cannot update a target cell, the grid skips that value and continues pasting the remaining values that it can update.
If you want to copy a value to other cells in the same column, use Fill Down or Fill Selected instead.

You can only copy values from adjacent columns in a row. When you paste multiple copied fields, the grid uses the copied value from the first column in your selection as the starting point for the paste.

Tips:

To copy values from columns that are not next to each other, rearrange the columns so the values are adjacent, or copy and paste each value separately.
You can use the shortcut keys or the right-click menu to copy and paste values.

Before you start

Make sure that the estimates you want to edit are in Edit mode. To apply Edit mode to the entire grid, select the [Edit] button in the Edit column heading.

Note: Applying Edit mode to an estimate locks it for other users, so check that others do not need to work with any estimates before applying Edit mode to the grid.

To copy and paste values in the estimates grid

Select the cell that contains the value you want to copy, or select multiple adjacent cells in the same row. (Hold down the Shift key as you select the range of cells.)
Right-click the selection, and then select Copy. You can also press Ctrl+C.
Select the cell where you want to start pasting the copied values.
Right-click the selected cell, and then select Paste. You can also press Ctrl+V.

If the grid cannot update a target cell, it skips that value and continues pasting the remaining values that it can update.

Examples: These examples assume that the columns appear in the order shown. If you have rearranged the columns, the copied values paste across the columns in the order they appear in your grid.

If Quantity, Unit, and Unit Cost are adjacent columns in your grid, you can copy values from those columns in one row. When you paste starting in Quantity for another estimate, the values paste into the same sequence of columns.
If Quantity, Unit, and Unit Cost are adjacent columns in your grid and you paste starting in Unit, the first copied value pastes into Unit, the second copied value pastes into the next column to the right, and the next copied value pastes into the following column, if those cells can be updated.
