Estimate Notes window (named notes)
You can enter multiple, named notes for an estimate in the Estimate Notes window. You enter the notes on individual tabs that you add and name. You can also rename tabs, or delete them.
Tip: You can choose to print estimate notes on reports. (In the Cover Page Setup window, select Named Notes.) An asterisk on a cover page "*" indicates that a note is hidden on the report.
The Estimate Notes window enables you to enter notes for the estimate as a whole. You enter notes for estimate items separately in the Notes window that you open from spreadsheet rows.
To open the Estimate Notes window:
- On the ribbon, on the Home tab, from the group, click the icon.
- In the Estimate Information window, click the Notes
button.
Note: When you open the Estimate Notes window from the ribbon, you can save your changes and continue editing. When you open it from the Estimate Information window, confirm your edits in the notes window, and then save or cancel your changes in the Estimate Information window.
To add a new note:

In the Estimate Notes window, you can add your note to the General tab or on an existing tab, or on a new tab that you add for the note .

If you are adding a new tab:

Click the (+) icon.

In the Name window, type a name for the new note.

Click []. The new tab appears in the Estimate Notes window.

- Type your note on the tab.
- Click [] or [OK], depending on whether you opened the note from the ribbon or the Estimate Information window.
- If you opened the window from the ribbon and you want to enter a new note, add a new tab as described in step 2 and enter the note.
- Click [Close] to return to the spreadsheet or the Manage Estimates window.
To rename a note:
- Double-click the note tab, or right-click it and then click Delete on the shortcut menu.
- Type the new name in the Rename Note window.
- Click [].
Note: You cannot rename the General tab.
To delete a note:
Right-click the note tab, and then click Delete on the shortcut menu.
Note: You cannot delete the General tab.
