Bill of Materials command

Use this command (Database tab > Miscellaneous group, or in classic view, Database menu > Bill of Materials) to open the Bill of Materials window where you can set up a bill of materials (BOM) for ordering purposes. The bill of materials, which is the basis for three reports, should include every material item in the standard database. Bill of Materials is available only when a standard database is open.

The process involves creating material classes in the standard database and assigning each material item to a material class.

Tip: To customize the bill of materials for an estimate, Edit Bill of Materials is available on the shortcut menu when you are working with a bill of materials in the spreadsheet.
