Setting up a new material class

Open the Material Class
window in one of the following ways:
- On the ribbon, from Codes group on the Data tab, click Bill of Materials.
- In classic view, select Database menu > Bill of Materials.
- From the spreadsheet,
right-click a material class, and then click Edit

(optional) If you opened
the window from the spreadsheet, use the Source option to save the new
material class to either the estimate or standard database.
Material classes created from the Datatab (or Database menu in classic view)
are always saved to the standard database.

In the Bill of Materials window, click [Add].

Complete the fields
in the window. You can use
and
for this purpose. At a minimum, you need to enter a name (up to 20 characters)
for the material class in the Material
class field. This name appears as a product category on the bill
of materials.
For more information, click
on the
title bar of the window and then click a field or button.
- When you finish setting
up the material class, click [OK]
to save it.
- Set up additional material
classes in the same manner.
- When you finish, click [Close].
Tips:
- After you set up your material
classes in the standard database, you can print the Material Classes report from
the Database Reports group on the Reports tab (or Reports menu in classic view) to check them.
- You can use Edit
Material Class from the shortcut menu to copy a material class
from an estimate to a standard database or from a standard database to an estimate. How?
- If you want the Material
Class window to remain in add mode after you save each new record, use
the automatic add mode option.
