Variable window
This window is used to enter the name, unit of measure, default value, minimum, maximum, and help notes for a variable. You can insert variables
in a formula to obtain the values needed to calculate takeoff quantities.
Sage Estimating saves your entries when you click [OK].
To open the Variable window:
- On the ribbon, from the group on the Data tab, click Variables.
- In classic view, click Database menu > Formulas > Variables.
Tips:
- Since you will eventually
have hundreds of variables, it is important to use a consistent naming scheme that helps you find the desired variable in a list.
- To make the name more legible,
capitalize only the first letter of each word in the variable name.
- You can set up a variable
that requires a YES or NO answer by ending its name with a question mark
(?). Using a YES/NO variable in an IF function allows you to obtain a
result based on a certain condition.
- Remember, Sage Estimating asks
just once for each variable during takeoff, even if it occurs in several
formulas.
