Setting up a bill of materials (BOM)

Open the Bill of Materials window in one of the following ways:
- On the ribbon, from the Bill of Materials. group on the tab, click
- In classic view, click Database menu > Bill of Materials.

Expand the Database Items list as needed and then select one or more items to assign to the same material class.
- You can sort the item list in a different order. (For more information, see Sorting a list.)
- You can search the list to find a specific item. (For more information, see Finding a specific entry in a list.)
Do you have linked item prices in your standard database? To assign linked items to the same material class as the selected items, select the Assign linked items checkbox.

Drag the selected items and then drop them on the desired material class () in the Material Classes list. Do you need a material class that has not been set up yet? Click [Add] and enter the information for the new material class.
Sage Estimating (SQL) creates a bill of materials (BOM) description folder () for the items (). It uses the description of the first selected item for the BOM description.
To display help for a list, click on the window and then click the list.
- Customize the bill of materials as needed. (For more information, see Customizing a bill of materials.)
- When you finish setting up your bill of materials, click [Close].
